(TWCF) is a global nonprofit foundation created by Sir John Templeton in 1996 to provide support for scientific breakthroughs and practical tools relating to the search for meaning, purpose, and truth. Through the sharing of various discoveries, TWCF seeks to impact individual lives across the world.

Purpose and Scope
The Program Associate plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and success of the Foundation’s grantmaking. This role involves hands-on, foundational tasks that lay the groundwork for larger initiatives and are essential for the team’s success. As a core member of the grants development and management team, they are responsible for upholding the Foundation’s high standards and best practices in grantmaking by ensuring proposals and grants meet all requirements and expectations. Reporting to the Senior Grants Manager, the Program Associate provides essential support to Program Officers and contributes expertise in internal processes and quality assurance across the full grant lifecycle—from idea inception through proposal development and grant management.
Responsibilities
- Support Program Officers with all aspects of proposal development, including developing and managing the proposal development timeline.
- Review proposals to ensure quality and alignment with internal requirements.
- Assist Program Officers in all aspects of the external review process, including inviting potential external reviewers, coordinating their activities, and ensuring adherence to the timeline.
- Assist with all aspects of grant management, including following up on overdue grantee reports and processing grant change requests.
- Serve as the Foundation’s primary point of contact for grantees. This may include responding to inquiries from applicants and grantees, scheduling meetings with applicants and grantees, supporting applicants through the process of inputting their proposals into the grant management system, and supporting the relationship between the Foundation and the grantee.
- Project manage open requests for proposals or funding rounds as required by the Foundation.
- Work on special projects that may include conducting background research, analysis of data, and drafting of reports in both written prose and slide presentation formats.
- Serve as a coordinator for multiple activities, including prioritizing tasks, tracking progress against deadlines, and ensuring clear communication between stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Minimum Educational requirement of a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Preferred.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple, often-conflicting deadlines; establish and negotiate timelines; and ensure timely delivery of high-quality work.
- Creativity, flexibility, sound judgment, and ability to take initiative and work independently as well as a part of a team.
- Excellent administrative and communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with an interdisciplinary and diverse team, grantees, and consultants across varied geographies.
- Outstanding organizational and project management experience, including the ability to move work from concept to implementation and completion.
- Demonstrated competence in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software, with the ability and willingness to work on a range of different software.
- Knowledge of the grantmaking process is desirable but not required.
- Willing to travel on occasion.
Required Experience
- Experience in supporting a fast-paced team, including developing shared plans and
coordinating external and internal communications. - Experience in setting priorities and meeting deadlines, balancing the needs of multiple
individuals. - International experience is highly desired.
